Hack4Growth FAQ's

Hackathon is designed as a competitive contest where participants including programmers, business analysts, designers etc. gather usually in teams to develop an idea, prototype or product in response to a certain challenge or topic within a defined period of time. Hackathon can last from as short as 24h to days or even months. Also the scope of hackathon has expanded beyond programming and software development to address other social or business challenges in innovative ways.  

Hack4Growth is specially designed to span over a couple of months to ensure the selected teams are properly trained and well prepared to iterate and fine tune their ideas or products to address burning issues to development challenges of Vietnam. 

  • Minimum expectation: MVP (​Minimum Viable Product) or prototype 
  • Bonus: Product demo 
  • You can submit an innovative concept, demo, prototype or a product under testing period. Products already commercialized are not eligible.
  • Technical environment 
  • Technical material and library 
  • Basic stationaries 
  • Training, coaching and mentoring 
  • Venue and basic catering services

Essential items: 

  • Laptop 
  • Evidence of your event registration & photo ID (as proof of age) 
  • Charger and/ or spare batteries 

Recommended items: 

  • Earphones/ headphones – if you like to listen to your own music 
  • Notebook/ scratch paper & pen/ pencil – in case there aren’t enough whiteboards 
  • Your favourite snacks/ drinks – basic catering is provided 

You may compete on a team of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 participants. We may increase or decrease the team sizes at our sole discretion to ensure all participants can take part in the #Hack4Growth and to foster skill set diversity within the teams. 

Participants must be from 18 years old. Teams who have received 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize in any previous competitions or Hackathons in Vietnam or elsewhere in the world are not eligible to partake in the event. 

No. There will be developers in the teams, however, we welcome business developers, business analysts, graphic designers, UI/UX designers as the more diverse the team composition, the better. 

You can register either as a team or individually and you will be able to match with other perspective team members on the Hackathon matching platform. 

The Hackathon winners will each be announced at the final awarding ceremony. If a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, the prize may be awarded to the second highest score submission, if any, at the organizers’ sole discretion. Acceptance of any prize shall constitute and signify the winner’s agreement and consent that organizers and their designees may use the winner’s name, city, state, likeness, submission and/or prize information in connection with the Hackathon for promotional, advertising or other purposes, worldwide, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, including the internet, without limitation and without further payment, notification, permission or other consideration, except where prohibited by law.  

Yes. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the Code of Conduct prior to the start of the hackathon. You and/ or your entire team may be disqualified and asked to leave the premises for any of the following actions, with or without warning, at our sole discretion: 

(a) non-compliance with these Event Rules, Code of Conduct or any other agreement entered into in connection with the hackathon; or (b) violating the spirit of the hackathon or acting inappropriately in any way. All disqualification decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
